ABOUT

“Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It’s something reflected from our soul to the outside world—an emotion.”

Alber Elbaz

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

—James Baldwin

My Story

Zakiya Samuel was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Trinidadian and Panamanian parents, with a love for style that started long before she even knew it. As a kid, she spent hours dressing up her Barbies, unknowingly foreshadowing her future career. Originally set on becoming a magazine editor, she fell in love with fashion after reading her first Vogue in college.

Graduating in 2011—right in the middle of an economic disaster—meant editorial jobs were scarce. Out of necessity, she pivoted into freelance styling, first as an assistant and eventually making a name for herself as a stylist in her own right. What started as a backup plan became her calling, shaping her signature approach to fashion—where luxury meets strategy, and style is never sacrificed, no matter the budget.
